Mississippi Avenue Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church.  When we say that, we mean to communicate several things:

1)  We are congregational in nature.  That means that the members of our fellowship make every decision about every aspect of our church.  No one other than the Holy Spirit of God guides us from the outside of our body.

2)  We recognize that we can do more together in cooperation with other churches than we can apart.  Our heart and strategy is to reach a lost world for Christ and to help those new believers to grow in His goodness and grace.  As such, we choose to work together with like minded Baptist churches at three levels.

 
 
We work with other churches in the Denver area through an association known as the Mile High Baptist Association.  By cooperating with other local churches, we can combine resources of time, energy and money to make a difference in the metropolitan Denver area.
 
We also work with other churches in the Colorado area through a state convention known as the Colorado Baptist General Convention.  Working with churches across the state allows us to minister and support missions efforts that would be impossible if we tried alone.
 
We are also a part of a larger convention known as the Southern Baptist Convention.  The SBC encompasses over 45,000 like minded churches focused upon common goals.  The cooperative effort provided allows us to support over 5000 missionaries around the world and an additional 5000 missionaries here at home.
